Lorca de Keranlouan was my first Champion...Why was he so special to me. Firstly, he was chosen for me by his breeder, one of the " great" breeders and trainers, Patrick Morin of the Keranlouan kennel. Lorca was by Ch P Ebert de Keranlouan and Ivry de K. I imported her along with her son in 1995, not wanting to miss the opportunity of this great dog's son. Patrick chose Lorca for me and asked me if I minded a Black!

It is through them that I started to do Spring Pointing tests and trials. They have taught me so much, the passion in the field, the classy and so accurate points , done with speed and  style. The side looks, and the frozen attitude for such long periods that I would not know where he would be as we don't use bells.
Lorca was a retrieverholic, he did not mind bringing back pink foot geese on the Norfolk marshes along with his son, not would he think twice bout diving after wounded ducks blowing bubbles in the process! No game phased him from pheasants to woodcock and hares. Even the cat was never safe from his enthousiasm...
The intelligence of this little black dog was one in a million. On a trial, he came on point on a hen pheasant who sat tight beside a releasing pen in the woods. As the bird would not move, he simply pushed it hard with his paw and that did the trick. It flushed and was duly shot.
A few days before he died he brought me a hare which had been ran over by accident on my drive. No one would ever take his prize from him...
Lorca was my companion, he was a beautiful and did well in France the twice he was shown, receiving 2 CAC, I CACIB, I RACIB beating 4 French champions at the time.
So he was indeed " beau et bon".
He leaves his legacy with his progeny, his daughter Baileys and grand daughter Ch Patouche Toscane( BOB in Rion des Landes) the top CC record bitch Holder in the UK, " Tournesol Surchoix at Bonapartist" amongst many. 2 of his daughters are in the US.
I have founded my kennel on Lorca and his mother Ivry. Without them and the honesty of their breeder, I would never have know the joys of working such gutsy dogs or the excitement of competition...
So Thank you Patrick...
